Letter to my Wilson Lakes Neighbors

Back in 1986 about 60 of your neighbors (maybe you were here back then…) contributed approximately $18,000 to eradicate a nuisance hydrilla plant that was strangling Lake Wilson. That was followed by the creation of an ongoing state run Lake Watch program, and, today, 23 years later, we still live on one of the cleanest and most beautiful lakes in Hillsborough County.

Over the years, the accomplishments of first, the Lake Wilson Civic Association and  now, the Wilson Lakes Neighborhood Association have been many.  Just go to our website at www.wilsonlakes.org. to see how far we’ve come.  Still, when we were dealing with the county last fall over the unnecessary expansion of the Lake Fern Crossing shopping center, not a lot of the neighborhood seemed to even know what was going on.  There’s no question that commercial development, going on all around us, would seriously encroach on our peaceful lifestyles if we don’t stay watchful and be looking out for our neighborhood’s best interests.

Maybe you don’t have any interest in involving yourself with your neighbors…or going to meetings, parties, civic events et cetera…that’s OK…we understand!  But because, every day, the quality of your surroundings are impacted in a positive way by volunteers from your neighborhood through their efforts in the Wilson Lakes Neighborhood Association, we hope that you would, at the very least, be a dues paying participant.  In your own quiet, subtle way, show your support to your neighborhood association by sending a check!  Annual membership dues have recently been reduced to only $35.  Go to our website if you want more information and then send a check today. Your check sent today gives you membership through June 30, 2010.

Future Events may include:

Neighborhood clean up

Melaleuca abatement

Community yard sale advertising

To have a large roster of dues paying members really does make a difference. Your neighbors sincerely thank you.
